- Now that Zayn wants to make it big in fashion, we hope the move won’t lose him the music lovers whose hearts he’s won as a solo artist.
Zayn Malik, who left pop boy band One Direction last year to pursue a solo career, seems to be taking fashion too serious.
In June, he created a stock with Iron Maiden illustrator Mark Wilkinson, and now he’s teamed up with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti to give a second shot with footwear.
The 23-year-old singer said to GQ: ‘Style is not being afraid to be bold about some things, or to say what it is you have to say, I feel like Giuseppe does that with his collection and I try to do that with my music. So it kind of works.’
The duo, who worked together during 2015 Paris Fashion Week in France, have designed a pair of rider boots due to be released in 2017.
Zayn, who now wants to continue work in fashion, added: ‘There’s a lot of offers come our way at the minute with different things to do with fashion and hopefully I get to get involved in all of them.
‘I’d love to just continually have a presence, because I feel like it’s very heavily tied into music and the image and the fashion, and it’s all kind of one thing. So you kinda gotta be in there, I guess.’
Since leaving 1D, Zayn has recorded major songs ‘Like I Would’, ‘It’s You’, ‘BeFoUr’ and best of all, ‘Pillowtalk’ which has reached over half a billion Vevo views.
