Sierra Leone Gist: $ 500,000 Given To The Agriculture Sector By US Mission

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched a two-year capacity building project with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) and its partners with a sum of $500,000.


This support program will be implemented through the USAID Africa Lead Project and is designed to support the institutional capacity building efforts of MAFFS and its principal stakeholders to lead the fight against hunger and poverty in Sierra Leone.
In a press release from the Mission and Representatives of the donor community, the Sierra Leone Chambers for Agribusiness Development, the National Youth Commission, Women Farmers Association and the National Federation of Farmers of Sierra Leone participated at the opening ceremony held on October 18 in Freetown.
According to a press release from the US mission in Sierra Leone “Africa Lead is a five-year, USAID-funded project that provides targeted technical assistance to all countries in Africa as part of the Africa Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program.”
