Questions The FA MUST Answer About The Football Child Abuse Scandal

It is time for the Football Association to tell us what it knows.
Today the Mirror asks 10 key questions about the historical sexual abuse of youngsters in the sport. The victims and the public deserve answers.

We must be told what FA officials knew and how they acted in the 70s, 80s and 90s. This is a scandal that is not going away.
More and more ex-players are bravely speaking out.
And what has emerged so far looks like it is only the tip of the iceberg.

We have seen before how major institutions completely failed the children in their care in decades gone by: the Catholic church, the BBC and any number of care homes.
Shining the spotlight on deficiencies is never easy. When the full picture emerges it will no doubt be a painful experience.
It may well bring embarrassment or shame; personal reputations may be tarnished or ruined, and some may even go to prison.
And there may also be a financial cost for some to face.
But one thing is absolutely crucial. We cannot shrink from the task.
And whether the Football Association likes it or not, it will be at the centre of this process. In this position it needs to provide answers quickly and transparently.
