Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, written by J.K. Rowling and directed by David Yates, has made $500m after just two weeks of its global release.
The Hollywood movie, which stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, with KatherineWaterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol in supporting roles, has made $161m domestically (the United States) and $344m internationally, exceeding the $500m mark worldwide.
The first instalment of the Fantastic Beastsseries has made an entry into the top 10 list of 2016′s biggest domestic earners as a result.
With $505m worldwide, it is the 13th biggest global grosser of the year, with Kung Fu Panda 3 ($519m), X-Men: Apocalypse ($543m), and The Mermaid ($553m) on the list.
However, Suicide Squad ($745m) and Deadpool($782m) remain the top earning movies of 2016
