Gary Neville has paid £20,000 out of his own pocket to book Great Britain's deaf football squads their places at the Deaflympics.
Gary Neville has forked out £20,000 to help Great Britain’s men’s and women’s deaf football teams secure their place at the Deaflympics.
GB Deaf Football needed to raise £17,750 before the start of December in order to pay their deposit for the competition.
But there is no funding available from the game's governing bodies.
In response to a tweet over the weekend asking the Premier League and the Football Association for the donation, Neville responded: "I will do it if they won't."
The organisation needed to raise £17,750 before December 1 but what appeared to be a tough task melted away when Manchester United legend Neville stumped up the whole lot, with interest, after being alerted to the cause on Twitter.
They intend to put on training weekends and matchdays to help them prepare in their bid to bring back gold next July.
They also require funding for flights, hotels and physiotherapy.
