The singer beat African heavyweights including Black Coffee and Casper Nyovest from South Africa, Olamide and Ali Kiba of Tanzania.
Only last month, the 26-year-old music star also won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards.
The 2016 MTV EMAs will air live on MTV and MTV Base on Sunday November 6th, 2016 at 22:00 CAT.
