Subscribers to DSTV have been calling for a reduction in subscription prices and the Management of MultiChoice has listened.
The Chief Executive Officer of Transnational/MultiChoice, Adonis Abboud, said, “This new price reduction will allow viewers to continue to enjoy great family entertainment as MultiChoice delivers even more value to their bouquet”. Abboud gave this statement at the Ministry of Information and Communications press conference on Thursday, 20 October 2016.
He added, “MultiChoice gives priority to customers who are at the heart of the business and that lots of subscribers are football lovers. That was why, in the last nine months, DSTV has delivered the world’s best football leagues to customers followed by the DSTV price freeze in April”.
Abboud continued: the Premium plan has been reduced by seven percent. The new price is $82, with an addition of eight, high-definition channels. Premium subscribers will also have the opportunity to celebrate with M-Net movies, Block Party, and a pop-up channels like the M-Net Movies Harry Potter”.
For the Compact Plus Plan, there has been a 10 percent decrease with the new price of $53 and an addition of eleven channels which includes: Vuzu AMP, lifetime, Discovery Channel, crime and investigation, History Channel and Africa Magic showcase.
The price for the Compact Plan dropped by seven percent with the new price of $29 and three additional channels. For the Family and Access, there is a reduction of 15 percent for the family bouquet with an addition of five channels. For the bouquet Access, an additional three channels have been added.
However, this reduction will not include the 15% GST tax and administrative tax.
In his statement, the Minister of Information, Mohamed Bangura, commended Abboud for his developmental strides in the country as he has been doing a lot in his own way.
Bangura said during their visit to South Africa for the MultiChoice Africa Journalist Awards, he was able to pull some strings by meeting some of the CEO’s and asked for price reduction for the people of Sierra Leone.
