The Chairman of the Committee on Education, Hon. Leonard Fofanah has said on Monday during the investigation of ghost teachers at the Albert Academy Secondary School that there is connivance from the Ministry of Education and the Accountant General’s Office in the Ministry of Finance.
He made this statement at the Administrative Building in Parliament while they were investigating the nine ghost teachers (educators who fail to show up for work, have moved away or otherwise maintain secure employment in the field and have been receiving salaries) from the Albert Academy.
Meanwhile, the Committee on Education is now investigating ghost teachers in school but they are presently dealing with the Albert Academy Secondary School.
Based on the issues raised on the previous adjournment dates, the Committee invited the Head of Payroll in the Accountant General’s Office, Ministry of Finance Mr. Sorie Kamara to help in the investigation.
Mr. Kamara presented the Payroll of the Albert Academy which according to him they “received it from the Ministry of Education.”
Meanwhile, the Committee members have earlier on received the School’s payroll from the Representative of the Ministry of Education at the Accountant General’s Office, Teslin Uthman, which the two principals from the Senior and Junior (Morrie J. While the Committee members were comparing the two documents (the one from Mr. Kamara and Mr. Uthman) they noticed that “the document from Mr. Kamara is falsified; pen writing, the principal signatures are not the same, added names, back page is changed among others.”
