Sierra Leonean friendly and has compounded the suffering of Sierra Leoneans with the lot of tax imposition that will invariably affect the livelihood of the people.” This statement was made to Awoko in response to the Minister of Finance, Momodu Kargbo's presentation of the 2017 Financial budget. He went further to say that in the midst of  decrease in revenue income, it is uncalled for, for the Government to continue in loses through subsidies of any nature. To him, the issue of Government engaging in subsidizing will affect payment of wages and salaries negatively.
 SLPP's Hon. Bashiru Siliki said,“this budget ever since the emergence of democracy, is the most challenging budget. I will describe it as the worst budget.”
According to him, “with the current economic situation in the country, the increase in taxes will cause more hardship on the people of this country”, noting that “despite the pleas for salaries to be increased, nothing was done about it.”
